About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst overseeing supply chain accounting at Canadian Tire Corporation. Managing IFRS policy, financial models, reporting, controls, and business initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for new supply chain business initiatives
  • Ensure appropriate accounting policy decisions are made
  • Update models and reporting processes alongside other accounting groups
  • Monitor and update key financial models across all entities
  • Develop expertise in the Dealer contract and provide guidance to accounting teams as appropriate
  • Make capital versus OPEX decisions
  • Complete monthly and quarterly deliverables accurately and on time
  • Report functional results, significant year-over-year or budget/forecast variances, and key project progress
  • Research, analyze, and lead discussions on business and accounting issues as initiatives evolve
  • Identify and execute improvements and efficiencies to complex models and processes
  • Maintain appropriate documentation
  • Monitor and execute key controls
  • Manage communications and relationships with business partners, accounting, FP&A, tax, and internal/external auditors
  • Participate in or lead ad hoc projects assigned by the Manager

Requirements

  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • University Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a medium/large company accounting department or accounting firm
  • Ability to provide accounting guidance on capitalization of assets and determine appropriate treatment of financial transactions in accordance with IFRS
  • IFRS expertise and experience researching and developing accounting position documents
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and strategic-thinking skills
  • Natural curiosity to understand the reason behind transactions and explore improvement opportunities using Copilot
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with internal and external audit processes
  • Experience delivering timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft accounting system and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is an asset
  • Broad knowledge of the chart of accounts and internal controls is an asset
