About the role

  • Maintenance Supervisor leading mechanics and preventive maintenance at Canplas, a plastic plumbing and ventilation products manufacturer. Improving plant reliability, safety, and continuous operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance of all machinery and systems according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards
  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures to maximize production uptime and operational efficiency
  • Supervise, train, coach, and mentor Maintenance Mechanics
  • Assign work, monitor performance, and support employee development
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and talent retention initiatives
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies, including permit systems and safe work practices
  • Conduct incident investigations, safety inspections, and risk assessments
  • Lead 5S initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and HSE teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, and plant performance

Requirements

  • College diploma, university degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Electrician License (309A, 442A, or Red Seal), Millwright License (433A or Red Seal), or equivalent industrial maintenance qualification
  • Experience leading maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, PLC troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance planning tools
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
  • Preferred: Experience in plastics, PVC, extrusion, injection molding, packaging, or related manufacturing environments
  • Preferred: Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Preferred: Experience working within ISO or quality management systems
