About the role

  • Character Concept Artist creating photoreal character concept art for games. Visualizing characters with accurate anatomy, likeness, and cultural authenticity in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Visualize human and creature characters in full photoreal style: anatomy, likeness, costume, gear, aging, damage, and material response to light
  • Produce turnarounds, expression sheets, lighting keys, and material swatches that are technically bulletproof for modelers and texture artists
  • Partner with the Art Director to establish silhouette language, color palettes, and cultural authenticity for multiple factions
  • Iterate rapidly in 2D to validate forms under real-world lighting

Requirements

  • 4+ years in games, film, or VFX creating photoreal character concept art that has shipped
  • Portfolio demonstrating accurate facial likeness and emotional range
  • Deep knowledge of human & animal anatomy, proportion, and aging
  • Mastery of skin subsurface, fabric weave, metal reflectance, and weathering
  • Ability to match real-world camera lenses and lighting scenarios
  • Fluency in Photoshop
  • Excellent visual communication skills
  • Self-driven, critique-hungry, and able to thrive in a fully remote, timezone-distributed team
