About the role
- Storyboard Artist creating fully realized storyboards for Kickstart Entertainment’s animation productions. Collaborating with Directors on visual storytelling, pacing, staging, and revisions.
Responsibilities
- Produce fully realized storyboards, including action descriptions, dialogue, camera moves, cuts, and hook-ups
- Collaborate with the Director on the style and tone of the series
- Join weekly creative calls as required
- Generate and communicate ideas to visually interpret scripts and overcome technical limitations
- Consult with the Director on the feasibility of comedic or dramatic script moments and suggest creative solutions
- Pitch thumbnails and rough storyboards to the Director
- Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot creative or technical issues
- Use existing templates and follow established formatting, naming, and workflow guidelines
- Address Director revisions
- Meet deadlines and communicate foreseeable issues
- Back up and properly save artwork and prepare materials on time
- Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, staff, partners, and clients
- Collaborate across multiple productions and departments
- Assist with development and other design-related studio needs during available periods
- Provide mentorship support to Junior artists
- Participate in studio workflow and process discussions

Requirements
- 3+ years experience storyboarding for 3D animation
- Outstanding drawing skills and sense of appeal, design, character, and composition
- Strong understanding of storytelling principles and techniques
- Strong visual storytelling, staging, and composition skills
- Strong posing, acting, and dramatic and comedic timing skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Storyboard Pro
- Able to clearly pitch ideas and interpret scripts visually
- Collaborative and communicative; comfortable receiving and applying feedback
- Knowledge of CG animation workflows and production constraints
- Attention to detail and adherence to formatting and naming conventions
- Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in comedy or action-driven content is an asset
