About the role
- Director leading AI innovation pipelines, accelerators, governance, and enablement at CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s public broadcaster. Driving scalable AI initiatives across media, technology, and corporate teams.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain an AI innovation pipeline and operating model
- Establish KPIs, instrumentation, and observability frameworks, and report progress to executive leadership
- Monitor global AI trends and translate research into strategic capability recommendations
- Oversee and grow the corporate AI innovation accelerator program
- Lead strategic AI initiatives from experimentation through MVP incubation to operational rollout
- Maintain a shared registry of enterprise AI tools, pilots, and initiatives
- Consult with leaders to identify operational needs and translate them into AI projects
- Connect operations, technology, digital, content, legal, and security teams
- Partner with legal, information security, and governance leads on risk and policy compliance
- Establish AI technology and platform agreements with internal and external partners
- Participate in vendor QBRs and roadmap planning
- Align engineering and business solution backlogs and monitor in-house builds
- Champion responsible AI practices and employee empowerment
- Develop AI experimentation playbooks, best practices, and assessment frameworks
- Co-create training and learning initiatives to upskill staff corporation-wide
- Represent CBC/Radio-Canada in domestic and international media and AI ecosystems
- Create case studies, participate in research networks, and present at industry events
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in innovation, digital transformation, MVP/Proof of Value development, or emerging technology roles, with strong exposure to AI/ML
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Deep understanding of generative AI, machine learning concepts, data-driven product development, and modern AI technologies
- Proven ability to lead large-scale innovation initiatives and translate ideas into scalable business solutions
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and teams, leading by influence, managing long-term stakeholder relationships, and industry partnerships
- Strong experience building and managing external partnerships
- Demonstrated success influencing senior executives and communicating complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Bilingualism in English and French
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and change management capabilities in ambiguous environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a collaborative leadership style
