About the role

  • Embedded software developer building Cisco networking platforms and connected infrastructure. Developing C/C++ system components across Linux, operating systems, and networking technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver software features for Cisco networking platforms and connected infrastructure
  • Work within collaborative, agile engineering teams to solve technical challenges
  • Build reliable system-level components
  • Ensure continuous product performance
  • Participate across the full software development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to refine requirements
  • Implement clean software solutions
  • Automate quality validation
  • Take ownership of key deliverables and contribute to mission-critical network systems

Requirements

  • Meet one of the following, completed within the past 3 years or expected within the next 12 months: Bachelor’s degree with 0 years of work experience; educational or workforce development program such as Associate’s, Apprenticeship, Boot camp, or Certification with 1 year of work experience; or high school diploma (or equivalent) with 2 years of work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or procedural systems design
  • Operating systems fundamentals, including processes, threads, memory management, and synchronization
  • Core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, and switching
  • Hands-on experience developing in Linux/Unix environments
  • Experience with command-line developer tools, GDB debugging, and Git version control
  • Preferred: prior co-op, internship, or project experience with Embedded Linux, POSIX APIs, RTOS, or microcontroller platforms
  • Preferred: familiarity with network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and ARP
  • Preferred: familiarity with Wireshark
