About the role

  • Independent advisor building a financial services business for Co-operators, a Canadian insurance and wealth provider. Growing community client portfolios through advice-based insurance, wealth solutions, and relationship development.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow an independent financial services advisory business under the Co-operators brand
  • Build long-term relationships with community members and understand their financial goals
  • Grow a profitable, sustainable client portfolio through prospecting, networking, referrals, and community engagement
  • Deliver personalized insurance and wealth solutions aligned with clients' goals
  • Provide advice-based service that supports clients' and families' long-term financial security
  • Represent Co-operators professionally in the community and strengthen its reputation and presence
  • Manage the business, time, priorities, and sales pipeline independently
  • Distribute Co-operators products exclusively under the independent contractor agreement
  • Continuously develop expertise in insurance, wealth solutions, and market trends

Requirements

  • Hold a valid Life Insurance License (LLQP or equivalent) and/or Mutual Funds License (e.g., IFC, CIFC), or be willing to obtain them
  • Meet ongoing licensing and continuing education requirements
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, banking, or other advice-based sales environments
  • Experience running your own business
  • Background in wealth management, B2B sales, account management, or business development
  • Experience in client-facing advisory or relationship-management roles
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and convert them into sustainable business growth
  • Strong sales and business-development mindset, with comfort prospecting, networking, and creating opportunity
  • Clear, confident communication, strong organization, and disciplined follow-through
  • Client-first, advice-based approach grounded in helping clients and families build financial security
  • Resilience, accountability, and self-motivation
  • Ability to operate independently while upholding Co-operators' values, brand standards, and client-first approach
  • Willingness to complete comprehensive background, credit, and eligibility checks
