About the role

  • Senior Forward Deployed Engineer guiding enterprise customers through Coder’s secure AI development platform. Designing cloud architectures, deploying agentic workflows, and driving onboarding and adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for post-sales customers, guiding deployment architecture, environment design, and adoption of Coder across human and AI development workflows
  • Own onboarding engagements end to end, moving customers from contract to productive adoption
  • Lead Get Well engagements addressing architecture, rollout, or organizational issues affecting customer health or growth
  • Help customers implement technical and organizational changes for agentic development at scale
  • Design and document repeatable delivery patterns for onboarding, architecture, and adoption
  • Design and recommend reference architectures suited to customer cloud environments, security postures, and organizational constraints
  • Translate customer environment complexity into guidance on networking, ingress, identity, and infrastructure patterns
  • Anticipate technical and operational risks, escalate issues, and track them through resolution
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture guides, how-to resources, and statements of work
  • Capture structured product feedback and advocate with engineering and product teams for roadmap and usability improvements

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Platform Engineering, or an equivalent post-sales technical role
  • Demonstrated experience guiding enterprise customers through complex technical deployments
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying cloud infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
  • 2+ years of experience deploying or operating AI coding agents in production or near-production environments
  • Ability to explain workspace-local agent tooling versus centralized agentic harnesses to security or compliance stakeholders
  • 2 or more years of production Kubernetes experience, including cluster design, workload scheduling, networking, storage, and lifecycle operations
  • 2 or more years of experience with Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tooling
  • Solid Linux systems administration and cloud-native networking knowledge, including ingress controllers, proxies, load balancers, and DNS
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline design and DevOps practices
  • Working knowledge of cloud security and identity, including IAM, network segmentation, secrets management, and compliance controls
  • Understanding of observability practices including logging, metrics, and tracing
  • Ability to design repeatable delivery patterns
  • Comfort supporting organizational and workflow change alongside technical change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High customer empathy
  • Self-directed, analytical, autonomous, and comfortable in a startup environment
