About the role
- Senior Buyer managing strategic procurement, supplier negotiations, contracts, and inventory. Supporting Coeur Mining’s remote Silvertip precious-metals operation in British Columbia.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regional responsibility for strategic and/or high-dollar commodities, including price/value determination, product and service negotiations, and terms and conditions
- Develop and implement procurement strategies, including supplier analysis, development, selection, and pricing strategy
- Coordinate purchasing of goods and supplies through purchase orders, quotations, and order reconciliation
- Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations, performance reviews, business development, and supplier awards programs
- Provide contract and negotiation management services
- Evaluate contract performance, amendments, extensions, compliance, and claims or complaints
- Source products and services through RFP and contracting solutions while maintaining supply continuity and lowest total cost
- Lead negotiations for high-impact commodities and develop negotiation and commodity strategies
- Participate in commodity negotiations, forecasting, and pricing
- Conduct strategic analysis of pricing, market conditions, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts, and long-term agreements
- Manage market pricing data flow and analytical/commodity management tools
- Provide site direction and performance reporting for cost analysis to senior management
- Manage critical shortages and strategies for constrained commodities
- Drive process improvement, IT tool development, business process definition, and implementation
- Perform sensitive and complex bid activities
- Ensure warehousing effectively services the operation
- Provide inventory control support to Operations, Maintenance, and Warehouse
- Conduct quarterly reviews of items not turned in for 365 days and inventory valued at $10,000 or greater
- Manage new Master Inventory additions through the Stock Request Process
- Supervise, direct, coordinate, and coach warehousing employees
- Ensure employee training, safe operating procedures, equipment operation, and pre-operational checks
- Monitor equipment and processes and direct troubleshooting activities
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years experience in a purchasing role, including exposure to strategic/high-dollar commodity sourcing
- Experience in tendering, negotiating, and awarding service contracts
- Strong purchasing negotiation skills
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience, ideally within a warehouse or inventory environment
- Mining industry experience desired
- Valid driver's license
- Physically fit to perform the duties of the position
- Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp
