About the role
- 3rd Engineer assisting Chief Engineer with maintenance and operations of marine engineering systems. Responsible for compliance, inspections, and participation in safety drills in a global context.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in the maintenance and operation of main propulsion and auxiliary systems.
- Regularly inspect boilers, engineering systems, and machinery for potential issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Maintain and repair pumps, compressors, generators, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Monitor the engine room and other technical spaces.
- Keep accurate records of engineering service operations and report any abnormalities.
- Participate in emergency drills and be familiar with damage control plans and procedures.
Requirements
- Holder of a valid Engineering Watchkeeping Certificate or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role aboard vessels is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems and machinery.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication skills.
