About the role

  • VP Finance scaling d1g1t’s fast-growing fintech through capital strategy, forecasting, investor relations, and risk management. Leading financial operations and future team development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the financial strategy supporting company growth objectives and long-term vision
  • Manage capital structure, including debt and equity financing, and recommend capital-raising strategies
  • Oversee cash flow planning, working capital management, and treasury operations
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, accounting-principle adherence, and regulatory compliance
  • Partner with the People Team to process monthly payroll for Canada and US employees
  • Assess resourcing needs to support company growth
  • Identify and manage financial risks and implement mitigation strategies and internal controls
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis
  • Provide financial reports and insights to the Executive Team, Board of Directors, and venture capital firms
  • Manage investor, analyst, banking, and external stakeholder relationships
  • Prepare and present financial information for investor meetings, roadshows, and annual reports
  • Negotiate financing terms with financial institutions while protecting company equity and financial flexibility
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes
  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team in the future
  • Report monthly to executives and quarterly to the Senior Executive team
  • Work with the C-Suite on strategy, hiring, budgets, and team planning
  • Drive cross-functional improvements and scalable people and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field, coupled with a CPA designation
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, financial forecasting models, risk management, complex financial data analysis, trend identification, and decision-support insights
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably in a SaaS or technology, fast-growing and scaling environment
  • Firsthand experience taking a SaaS company from start-up to scale-up, growing a team from 100 to 200, solving growth challenges, raising capital, and reaching profitability
  • Exceptional leadership abilities and a track record of building strong cross-functional partnerships
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence at all levels
  • Experience with financial software systems; QuickBooks, Wave, ADP, TriNet, Google Suite, Slack, and Notion are assets
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including conveying complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in capital management, investor relations, and fundraising
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey and understand information and inspire confidence and trust with internal and external stakeholders
