About the role

  • Software Test Developer improving testing, automation, and quality for D2L’s cloud-based education platform. Collaborating on Agile teams to transform how the world learns.

Responsibilities

  • Work on an Agile development team with Developers, Testers, Designers, a Technical Product Manager, and a Development Manager
  • Contribute to defining requirements, developing, and testing solutions
  • Take charge of the team’s overall quality strategy and optimize for quality early in development
  • Contribute to product code and code reviews
  • Design and write automated tests
  • Plan and execute exploratory testing
  • Implement reliability engineering strategies and other quality-improvement activities
  • Coach team members on quality-related activities and foster a mature quality culture
  • Communicate quality concerns compellingly
  • Participate in Communities of Practice, internal lunch and learns, conferences, workshops, mentoring, and the broader testing community

Requirements

  • Quick to learn, passionate about the work, and eager to collaborate
  • Ability to find defects and design issues during all phases of software development
  • High standards for quality, software performance, and security
  • Ability to create and nurture feedback loops for continuous testing improvement
  • Coding skills in Swift, Objective-C, C#, or Java and/or scripting skills in JavaScript, Python, Perl, or PowerShell
  • Ability to read production code and contribute to test automation
  • Critical thinking to identify risks and gaps in analysis and test coverage
  • Ability to design effective automation tests and contribute to automation frameworks
  • Acumen with Artificial Intelligence tools
  • Effective collaboration to develop testable features and identify test tasks during design
  • Passion for users and advocacy in the development process
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, computer engineering, or similar technical discipline
