About the role

  • Legal affairs advisor protecting DuProprio and Desjardins Group’s legal interests. Advising units, overseeing compliance, and supporting legal initiatives, reports, and board meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Protect the organization’s legal interests and ensure compliance with all laws
  • Help ensure the organization’s rights are protected and obligations are met
  • Represent the organization in situations involving its legal interests
  • Advise and support organizational units and decision-making bodies on initiatives and activities related to legal affairs
  • Analyze data, conduct studies, make recommendations and write reports
  • Help issue legal opinions and recommendations
  • Organize, coordinate and attend meetings, including meetings of decision-making bodies and the board of directors
  • Provide legal oversight
  • Diagnose issues, challenges and needs to determine target outcomes
  • Monitor the industry to understand and anticipate trends and help develop best practices
  • Serve as a resource person for the unit, clients and partners
  • Advise and assist clients and partners on intervention and development initiatives
  • Develop tools, methods and processes
  • Propose recommendations, solutions and action plans based on organizational objectives and priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Academic specialization in notarial law (an asset)
  • Be a member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written
  • Available to work 5 days per week, including at least one evening shift (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and weekends (Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., according to a predetermined rotation)
