About the role

  • Industrial Engineer designing warehouse layouts, automation, and operational improvements for DSV Contract Logistics Canada. Supporting customer implementations, facility readiness, UAT, and successful project go-live.

Responsibilities

  • Support customer implementations, facility expansions and operational improvement initiatives across DSV Contract Logistics Canada
  • Gather customer requirements through DSV Quality Planning sessions and develop engineering deliverables
  • Develop warehouse layouts, process flows, material flow and slotting strategies
  • Support greenfield, brownfield and facility expansion projects through operational design and engineering planning
  • Develop storage solutions, including specialized storage media for hazardous materials
  • Execute engineering activities in accordance with the DSV Contract Logistics Project Approach
  • Analyze operational data, throughput, labour performance and warehouse capacity
  • Develop labour models, KPI reporting and engineering analyses
  • Identify process bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase throughput and operational efficiency
  • Develop facility readiness plans for warehouse start-up, expansion and operational changes
  • Prepare equipment specifications, procurement lists and end-user equipment requirements; coordinate facility upfit activities
  • Develop and coordinate User Acceptance Testing plans, schedules and operational test scenarios
  • Track testing progress, document issues and support issue resolution
  • Validate operational readiness before go-live, support go-live and stabilization activities, and capture lessons learned
  • Support deployment, validation, commissioning and operational startup of warehouse automation technologies including WCS, WES, AutoStore, conveyors and ASRS
  • Review post-project operational performance and recommend process improvements
  • Maintain engineering documentation, standards and project templates
  • Collaborate with Solutions Design, Operations, Application & Integration, Project Management, customers, vendors and internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline (or combination of education and relevant experience may be considered)
  • 3–6 years of engineering experience supporting warehouse operations, customer projects or supply chain solutions
  • Experience supporting warehouse start-ups, facility expansions, operational improvements or customer implementations
  • Experience with warehouse control systems, warehouse execution systems or warehouse automation technologies
  • Experience supporting customer projects within a contract logistics environment
  • English reading, writing and verbal skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
  • AutoCAD or equivalent layout software
  • Knowledge of warehouse management and supporting operational applications
  • Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Spanish is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with SQL, Power BI or similar reporting tools is considered an asset
