About the role
- Full-stack engineer building strategic planning and performance management software for public agencies. Delivering React interfaces, backend services, APIs, and production systems at Envisio.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery: design, build, test, and ship full-stack features
- Contribute to technical design discussions, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Apply software development best practices, testing discipline, and code reviews
- Leverage AI-powered coding tools and workflows
- Support continuous deployment and production monitoring
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments and partner with Product Management on new user features
- Contribute to shared technical knowledge across the engineering team
- Write clear, thorough, and accessible technical documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 4+ years of professional full-stack experience building and maintaining web applications
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and clean architecture principles
- Strong frontend experience with React and responsive web applications
- Backend experience with server-side code, data models/databases, SQL and/or NoSQL, and GraphQL and REST APIs
- Experience using AI developer tools and agentic workflows such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor, with strong prompting skills
- Understanding of automated testing frameworks, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience is highly desirable but not required
- AWS, Heroku, and DevOps experience are bonus qualifications
- Experience with civic technology, public sector software, or strategic planning and performance management platforms is a bonus
- Experience building accessible web applications is a bonus
- Experience working in a distributed, remote team environment is a bonus
