About the role

  • Monitoring construction projects in transport infrastructure focused on lighting systems and traffic lights. Collaborating with engineering teams and local authorities to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out site monitoring for transportation infrastructure projects (electrotechnical scope) in accordance with the Client's requirements and the contract drawings and specifications to ensure that the works meet the project objectives safely;
  • Specifically, monitor the installation of luminaires, lighting equipment, traffic signals (including commissioning), signage and traffic control devices;
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and local authorities to obtain required permits and ensure regulatory compliance of projects;
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative inspections of the works and their execution;
  • Measure completed works, compile quantities and prepare the documents required for payment claims, and prepare daily reports;
  • Coordinate site monitoring activities with our teams;
  • Assist the discipline lead with change management, preparation of change orders and record works by memo;
  • Draft notices;
  • Occasionally assist with the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for projects;
  • Other duties related to the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in construction monitoring in the areas of road lighting, traffic signals and electrotechnical systems;
  • Specialization in road lighting or transportation systems is an asset;
  • Interest or experience in monitoring road lighting, traffic signal and illuminated signage projects, ideally in an urban environment;
  • Thorough knowledge of technical standards and regulations for streetlighting, traffic signals and road signage;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Proficiency with CAD software and lighting simulation tools is an asset;
  • Completion of a construction site safety course (ASP);
  • Hold a Class 5 driver's license and have access to a vehicle;
  • Advanced proficiency in English required. You may be required to regularly communicate with internal and external partners across Canada, the United States and on international projects, both verbally and in writing.
