About the role

  • Senior Engineer in Building Electricity at EXP managing critical electrical projects for diverse clients. Contributing to quality and performance in design and implementation with hybrid work flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee field surveys required for project design.
  • Prepare building electrical plans and specifications, including lighting systems, power distribution, fire alarm systems and other related systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Carry out specialized electrotechnical studies, including arc flash analyses, grounding studies (MALT), protection coordination and selectivity, as well as short-circuit and load calculations, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
  • Design normal and emergency power distribution networks for critical infrastructure (data centers, hospitals, strategic facilities), taking into account reliability, resilience and business continuity requirements.
  • Perform site visits, provide construction oversight and technical support, and verify compliance of completed work.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and propose appropriate, durable and high-performance technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with EXP’s quality standards, applicable codes and contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor, support and develop more junior team members by sharing your expertise.
  • Keep your technical knowledge up to date and contribute to the development of internal practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical engineering, building engineering or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in building electrical systems, ideally in consulting engineering.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Experience in designing critical infrastructure such as data centers, hospital facilities or high-density technical environments (an asset).
  • Experience in assessing arc flash risks in industrial, commercial or institutional installations (an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of design and drafting software, notably Revit.
  • Solid command of codes and standards applicable to buildings.
  • Proficiency with electrical modeling software such as ETAP, EasyPower or equivalents.
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Advanced English skills, particularly for collaboration with partners in Canada, the United States and internationally (an asset).
