About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on company and industry value chains and ecosystems, and communicate findings to identify potential areas for action
  • Perform critical analyses and prepare recommendations on market entry, competitive analysis and market practices
  • Monitor innovation ecosystems and technologies in Canada and gather market intelligence
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative market study data as well as historical and projected business outcomes
  • Prepare detailed presentations and reports to support advisory services
  • Amplify the voice of Canadian companies and connect their solutions to EDC’s international business networks
  • Transform market data and intelligence into practical analysis to support prioritization and decision-making
  • Lead projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to develop and implement sector strategies
  • Convert market studies and intelligence into innovative ideas and concrete opportunities
  • Reports to the Director, Advisory Services — International Trade

Requirements

  • Degree in economics, political science, business administration, international business or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in market research, analysis or business strategy development, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proven experience developing advisory material and strategies
  • Experience in international trade, export development, market intelligence or related areas
  • Strong understanding of company internationalization processes and assessment of export opportunities
  • Strategic research and analytical skills for advisory purposes
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems, synthesize complex information and produce actionable insights to inform decisions
  • Solid skills in primary and secondary research, company profiling, data organization, synthesis and preparation of executive-level findings
  • Experience with commercial research and analytics platforms
  • Deep knowledge of ecosystems for sectors and sub-sectors of Canadian exporters and international supply chains
  • Thorough understanding of economic and policy analysis principles and practices
  • Experience using company (micro) datasets
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and AI-enabled research tools such as Copilot
  • Excellent presentation and oral/written communication skills in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to present ideas clearly, concisely and in an organized manner
  • Candidates must meet government security requirements
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application (Canadian citizens or permanent residents)
