About the role

  • Software Engineer building Felix’s WordPress healthcare website and design system. Developing growth tooling, APIs, analytics, experimentation, and automated QA for Canadian healthcare customers.

Responsibilities

  • Build pages, blocks, and templates in Felix’s custom WordPress block theme
  • Translate Figma designs into reusable, tokenized components and maintain design-system consistency
  • Contribute to theme architecture, custom Gutenberg blocks, and custom plugins
  • Improve the editing experience so Marketing can build and iterate independently
  • Build experimentation frameworks, analytics and reporting pipelines, content importers, and automated QA tools
  • Build and consume APIs connecting the website with internal services, analytics platforms, and third-party tools
  • Protect performance and SEO through Core Web Vitals, image and asset delivery, structured data, caching, and technical SEO
  • Implement and maintain GTM, Segment, and GA4 tracking and A/B tests
  • Work directly with Design, Marketing, SEO, and Growth to scope and ship work
  • Review code and help raise engineering standards on a small team

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with modern PHP 8+ and custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Deep experience with block themes, block editor, custom blocks, theme.json, custom post types, and the WordPress data layer
  • Semantic, accessible HTML
  • CSS at scale, including design systems, design tokens, utility-first patterns, and responsive layout
  • Strong vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) and Web Components
  • Solid MySQL skills, including schema design, queries, indexing, and diagnosing slow queries
  • Experience building APIs with REST, authentication, versioning, and error handling
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs
  • Docker for local development
  • Vite or an equivalent modern bundler and npm for the asset pipeline
  • Git-based workflow with code review and CI/CD
  • Experience implementing pixel-accurate, accessible interfaces from Figma
  • Practical experience with Core Web Vitals, asset optimization, caching, structured data, and technical SEO
  • Experience implementing event tracking and running or supporting A/B tests
  • Ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-engineering stakeholders
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
