About the role

Architectural facilities assessor conducting building-condition inspections and cost estimates for Gordian’s facility data and asset-management services. Remote Canada role with 40–50% travel.

Responsibilities

Review client documentation, including drawings, studies, and maintenance logs, before and during inspections
Perform visual inspections of foundations, structures, exterior envelopes, stairs, hardscapes, interior stairs, finishes, and conveyance
Review conformance with client standards and accessibility, fire and life safety, code, energy, and sustainability requirements
Collaborate with client facilities management staff to understand facility operations, investments, and functional needs
Use tablets, cameras, and mobile collection software to document on-site findings and physical condition determinations
Develop facility replacement-cost and corrective-measure estimates using data libraries and vendor research
Document findings in Gordian asset management and capital planning software
Perform quality assurance for completeness and accuracy of findings
Respond to client inquiries with clarification and guidance on assessment findings

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or Facility/Construction Management, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in facility assessment or inspection, facility operations, design, construction, or facility/property management
Knowledge of researching and applying relevant building codes and standards for existing buildings
Experience conducting quantity surveys and estimating replacement values using RS Means or other construction cost datasets
Experience evaluating facility/system conditions and conducting lifecycle analysis with corrective cost estimates
Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and web browsers
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain focus on critical tasks and drive results
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to walk and inspect large complexes and climb ladders and stairs, including roofing systems
Willingness and ability to travel 40% to 50% nationally and occasionally internationally
