About the role
- Software Developer building Genetec’s desktop, web, and cloud software. Developing C#/.NET applications, APIs, integrations, and security and transit features.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software for desktop, web, backend, and cloud applications
- Develop features using C#/.NET, WPF, Angular, React, TypeScript, and related technologies
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and service integrations
- Create cloud-connected services and web configuration applications
- Develop integrations with Genetec Security Center, transportation systems, embedded systems, and external services
- Implement features from requirements definition and design through to production deployment
- Diagnose and resolve defects in new and existing applications
- Analyze production issues with the support team and other teams
- Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Contribute to software architecture, performance, maintainability, and code quality
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, task estimations, and design activities
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to plan and validate software releases
- Create and maintain software for Genetec’s transportation and physical-security products
Requirements
- Strong experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
- Experience developing desktop, web, and/or backend applications
- Experience with WPF and XAML, or the ability to learn WPF
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
- Experience with Angular, React, or another modern component-based web framework
- Understanding of REST APIs, the HTTP protocol, and web application fundamentals
- Experience with asynchronous programming, application performance optimization, and maintainable software design
- Experience with Git and collaborative development practices
- Experience writing automated tests
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in complex or distributed applications
- Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
- Assets: experience with Genetec Security Center, access-control or physical-security systems, transportation systems, fleet management, AVL/GPS, Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, Go, MongoDB, SQL Server, gRPC, MQTT, NATS, TCP, UDP, and OpenAPI/Swagger
