Field Safety Specialist advising Grainger customers on safety improvements and MRO solutions. Coaching sellers and driving workplace safety implementations across British Columbia.
Responsibilities
Provide Safety & Health expertise to Grainger customers and sellers to develop partnerships and grow revenues within a defined region
Partner with District Sales Managers to align safety and health opportunities and train regional sellers on safety and health offers, resources and insights
Travel approximately 50% within the Vancouver area and 50% outside Vancouver, covering the entire province
Conduct customer needs analyses and align safety and health issues with Grainger products or services
Lead customer discussions using relevant insights and challenge customers to think differently
Explore customer needs, identify problems to solve and determine customer readiness
Research and identify compelling reasons for customers to change
Provide solutions that reduce costs or increase efficiency through innovative product or service applications
Develop solution options through customer dialogue and available technology
Link product and service features and benefits to business outcomes
Coordinate with internal and external Grainger contacts to support solutions
Perform cost savings analyses and value-based conversations using value receipts and documented value statements
Obtain customer feedback on customized solution recommendations
Develop and drive implementation plans and timelines with customers and Grainger resources
Check with customers to ensure business needs are being met
Leverage post-implementation success to identify future customer needs
Coach and direct sellers on regional safety and health opportunities
Align internal and external resources to support safety and health opportunities
Educate sellers on safety offers and key messaging
Identify geographically assigned accounts for key opportunities
Maintain expertise through safety credentials focused on safety and health regulations and industry topics
Educate customers on changing market trends, technology and business impacts
Investigate nonstandard solutions that profitably satisfy customer needs
Expand customer understanding and use of Grainger’s standard products and services
Requirements
5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent environment involving safety hazard analysis and assessments and responsible for overseeing safety
Strong business and safety acumen
Ability to understand financial reporting and analyze safety business needs
Ability to document safety & health value to customers
Ability to project manage and drive for results
Experience conducting workplace inspections for injury prevention and accident prevention/reduction
Experience with engineering controls, ergonomics and hazmat control to meet compliance standards
Business analysis experience and ability to identify and implement safety improvements
Understanding and awareness of safety regulations, safety applications, market offers and capabilities
Demonstrated understanding of safety violations, safety drivers, safety programs and building a safety culture
Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience with current safety regulations
Ability to learn and understand the Grainger Selling Process
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
Ability to build strong networks and work cross-functionally
Skilled in applying and using computer and communications technology
Ability to analyze data through available reports
Ability to proactively partner with leaders in the geography
Ability to motivate and achieve results through others
Valid driver’s license in state/province possession upon hire required
Possession of a suitable vehicle upon hire required
QSSP (Qualified Safety Sales Professional) certification or other recognized safety certifications/degrees preferred
May be required to wear PPE at customer sites, including a hard hat, steel-toed safety boots and close-fitted N95 mask-compatible facial hair requirements
May be required to submit to customer alcohol and drug screening procedures
