About the role
- Software Engineer II developing elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industry using AI-native coding approaches. Collaborating in a proactive development environment to enhance customer experience.
Responsibilities
- build elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industry’s complex business domain
- use AI-native coding approaches and AI-assisted tools (such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot) to build, refactor, and extend our services quickly and safely
- maintain high engineering standards, tests, and observability
- support PDO’s mission to embed GenAI across our products
- improve operational excellence, and deliver secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services at scale
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of Software Development experience, preferably in SaaS or cloud solutions
- Proficiency in Core Java, and good working knowledge of the Spring framework
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
- Experience building microservices on cloud service platforms (e.g. AWS/GCP/Azure) – AWS preferred
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes)
- Experience designing REST or gRPC based APIs
- Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design principles
- Understanding of relational database persistence (e.g. MySQL, Oracle); familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB) is a plus
- Great understanding of CI/CD and DevOps principles; experience with related tools such as TeamCity, Git-based workflows, or Kubernetes is a definite plus
- Experience with LLMs, LangChain, and/or AI patterns such as RAG or ReAct is a plus
- Exposure to AI/ML development patterns such as prompt engineering or integrating AI services into production systems is a plus
- BS/MS degree (Computer Science or related field)
