About the role
- Illustration Assistant creating playful, production-ready educational product art for Hadley Designs. Translating creative direction into original illustrations, complete sets, and print-ready files.
Responsibilities
- Create new artwork and complete sets in Hadley Designs' established style across product lines.
- Draw original characters, motifs, patterns, and scenes in a cute, kid-friendly aesthetic.
- Turn the CCO's concepts and creative direction into finished, production-ready product designs.
- Carry designs from initial handoff through final build-out independently.
- Execute variations, build out full design sets, and prepare files.
- Prepare print and production files to specification.
- Build mockups and product previews for listings.
- Maintain on-style, on-brand consistency across product sets.
- Maintain the living style-reference as the catalog grows.
- Provide occasional secondary ad-ops support and revisions on existing product lines.
Requirements
- Portfolio of original illustration work showing a cute, playful, kid-friendly or product-design sensibility.
- Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for native illustration.
- Ability to match and extend an existing art style and complete a cohesive set.
- Strong ability to take written and verbal creative direction and turn it into finished work.
- Reliability on deadlines while managing several pieces at once.
- Experience preparing print / production files to spec (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with the children's, educational, or consumer-product space (nice-to-have).
- Comfort with Notion, ClickUp, and file organization (nice-to-have).
- Early-career/entry-level illustrator; not a senior art director or veteran illustrator.
