About the role

  • Technical Advisor supporting Petro-Canada Lubricants’ customer solutions and product applications. Conducting audits, resolving lubricant issues, and supporting sales, R&D, and field trials.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary technical support to the Sales team, distributors, and customers
  • Develop technical relationships with customers and understand their maintenance and lubrication needs
  • Conduct comprehensive lubrication audits and surveys for continuous improvement and tangible savings
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on lubricant products, applications, and equipment
  • Provide field knowledge to Sales, R&D, and Marketing regarding product performance, customer needs, and industry trends
  • Investigate and resolve product application and quality problems through root cause analysis with R&D, Manufacturing, Production, and Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate, lead, and support customer acceptance and product development field trials
  • Develop, organize, and present technical presentations and training seminars
  • Liaise with used oil analysis laboratories and R&D to develop and support oil analysis programs
  • Support original equipment manufacturer product approvals
  • Manage the product cross-reference database and provide lubricant cross-referencing reports
  • Provide backup support to Technical Advisors in other geographies and segments
  • Complete special assignments, projects, or tasks assigned by the District Sales Manager

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a petroleum, base oils, lubricants and/or specialties related field
  • Experience with petroleum product development, testing protocols, application based product development and performance
  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in Engineering (mechanical or chemical preferred), or a combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technicians with relevant industry experience may be considered
  • Bilingual (French and English) is required
  • Exceptional Safety Mindset and ability to work safely at all times when unsupervised
  • Excellent knowledge of lubricants development, testing protocols, equipment application and performance, and equipment reliability
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial lubricants and their applications for rotating equipment across multiple industries
  • Working knowledge and participation in audits of ISO/TS quality and environmental systems and OEM registrations, warehouse, blending, and distribution protocols
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite and database management
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, and oral presentation skills
  • Proactive continuous improvement, initiative, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to be qualified for H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, WHMIS and TDG
  • Must have no restrictions on traveling within North America
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to provide a vehicle as per policy, and valid required insurance
  • Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS) preferred or commitment to achieving CLS status within a given time
  • Experience using SAP and Salesforce is an asset
