About the role

  • Mental Health Therapist providing telephonic EFAP counselling, assessments and crisis support for Canadians at Homewood Health. Developing treatment plans, risk interventions and practical strategies in a Tuesday-to-Saturday remote role.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver EFAP and other assigned clinical services, including confidential counselling, case management, direct clinical services and assessments
  • Conduct telephonic assessments for client behaviour, emotional health, family, wellness, work and personal matters, including crisis situations
  • Provide practical strategies clients can implement independently
  • Receive case assignments, establish treatment plans, complete progress notes and determine case closure through the Clinical Manager
  • Develop client-specific action plans under regular supervision
  • Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments as needed
  • Conduct risk assessments and support suicide and other risk-prevention interventions
  • Complete intervention notes and tracking documents
  • Maintain established service-level and direct-service targets
  • Consult with the Stay at Work Clinical Management team and collaborate with colleagues for timely service delivery
  • Lead workshops as required and as competencies and time allow
  • Provide Crisis Management Services on an as-needed basis

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology
  • Registration in good standing with a relevant governing body as a Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Marriage & Family Therapist or Canadian Certified Counsellor
  • 2–3 years of clinical experience with a continuum of mental health and situational problems
  • Experience and training in solution-oriented and/or cognitive behavioral short-term therapies
  • Crisis hotline, telephonic counselling and/or EFAP experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills
  • English language skills required; French is an asset
  • Skilled in risk assessment, online research and locating emergency and/or community resources across Canada
  • Empathetic approach and exceptional customer service delivery in person and by phone
  • Flexibility and creativity in single-session counselling
  • Awareness of measurement-based care; related experience an asset
