About the role

  • Principal Architect leading architecture for Granum’s software ecosystem serving landscapers and arborists. Driving .NET modernization, platform strategy, security, CI/CD, and AI-native development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Granum's Architecture team and drive development of the technical roadmap
  • Serve as a hands-on player/coach, leading a small team of architects while working in the code
  • Report to the CTO and collaborate with Platforms, Product, and feature-pod leaders
  • Drive application and system architecture across Granum's product portfolio
  • Plan and develop platform upgrade tooling and processes for Angular, .NET, and shared libraries
  • Reduce technical debt spanning teams and provide a stable, secure, scalable foundation for feature teams
  • Execute the technical roadmap by sequencing visible work and identifying cross-team dependencies during quarterly planning
  • Define architectural standards, guardrails, component patterns, and testing expectations
  • Plan and coordinate major technology upgrades and evaluate new technologies
  • Establish deployment patterns and shared CI/CD guidance
  • Guide application security, identity and access, and API exposure and security
  • Define how humans and coding agents interact in the AI-native development process
  • Lead, grow, and set the operating rhythm for the Architecture Pod
  • Make architecture legible to engineers and coding agents through clear patterns, context, and documentation

Requirements

  • Track record as a hands-on architect leading the architecture of a non-trivial, production SaaS platform
  • Experience driving a real codebase from its current state to its target architecture
  • Ability to read and write code credibly
  • Deep .NET experience, including modernizing legacy .NET Framework systems
  • Experience with systems and integration architecture, including integrations, data flow, and deployment topology
  • Knowledge of API architecture, including exposing, securing, versioning, and evolving APIs without breaking dependent users
  • Security-first understanding of authentication, access, and API exposure
  • Systems thinking and pragmatism; preference for well-understood technology and community solutions over bespoke builds
  • Fluency with AI-assisted and agentic coding tools as a primary development mode
  • Experience working closely with product managers and tying technical decisions to customer outcomes
  • Leadership experience setting direction, growing people, providing feedback, unblocking engineers, and running a healthy team rhythm
  • Angular, Azure, and AWS experience is a plus
