About the role

  • Senior Strategic Finance Manager leading Instacart’s retailer deal economics, pricing, and partnership negotiations. Building models, P&Ls, dashboards, and investment frameworks for grocery-platform growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the finance lead for retailer deal flow across the full lifecycle of retailer partnerships
  • Set financial strategy and shape pricing philosophy for retailer partnerships
  • Drive portfolio-level decision-making and develop decision frameworks
  • Build robust financial models and advise senior leaders during high-stakes negotiations
  • Establish financial modeling standards covering revenue share, incentives, advertising, and fulfillment economics
  • Define and operationalize pricing guardrails, pricing architecture, rate cards, and deal desk processes
  • Build partner- and portfolio-level P&Ls, forecasts, KPIs, and cash-flow analyses
  • Create self-serve dashboards to quantify tradeoffs, surface risks, and accelerate investment decisions
  • Develop portfolio-level investment evaluation frameworks and measurement plans
  • Collaborate with Partnerships, Legal, Revenue Operations, Accounting, Product, Deal Desk, Data Science, and Analytics
  • Elevate modeling rigor, business judgment, and executive storytelling across analysts and managers
  • Report to the Director of Retailer Finance

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of recent experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting
  • Significant experience directly supporting deal flow, business development, or commercial partnerships
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Track record of owning finance workstreams for complex commercial agreements from scoping and pricing through negotiation, signature, and post-close tracking
  • Experience serving as senior finance partner in C-suite and VP-level negotiations
  • Experience structuring contract terms balancing growth and unit economics
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including multi-scenario and sensitivity analyses
  • Strong accounting fundamentals and unit economics knowledge
  • Ability to build, reconcile, and present partner- and portfolio-level P&Ls and cash-flow impacts
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses and recommendations clearly to senior executives
  • Preferred: MBA or relevant advanced degree
  • Preferred: Marketplace, platform, gig economy, grocery delivery, or consumer internet experience
  • Preferred: 2 or more years of direct people management experience
  • Preferred: SQL, BI tools, and AI workflow proficiency
  • Preferred: Pricing frameworks, rate card architecture, and enterprise-scale deal desk experience
  • Preferred: Revenue recognition and partnership accounting familiarity
  • Preferred: Fast-moving pipeline and concurrent deal management experience
