DevOps II role providing production support for Java-based applications. Involves incident management, CI/CD operations, and collaboration on cloud platforms.
Responsibilities
Handle production incidents end-to-end (triage, severity assessment, escalation, stakeholder communications, and documentation).
Implement and test low to moderately complex code changes to fix defects in Java-based applications.
Use monitoring and logging basics to accelerate troubleshooting and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA).
Support cloud-based environments and build exposure to providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Work with Kubernetes basics and container fundamentals (Docker/containers).
Support CI/CD operations: read pipeline logs, re-run jobs, and assist with Git/Jenkins workflows.
Follow governance and compliance practices (data classification, PII handling).
Contribute to proof-of-concept (PoC) activities for vendor selection (scope, success criteria, recommendation, documentation).
Collaborate effectively with teammates, communicate clearly, and stay calm and structured during high-severity events.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
3 to 5 years of overall experience (intermediate profile), ideally in operations, support, DevOps, or software engineering.
Expert level experience with Java applications (implementing and testing defect fixes).
Familiarity with monitoring/logging concepts and incident management practices.
Exposure to cloud concepts and at least one cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Foundational knowledge of Kubernetes and containers (Docker).
CI/CD fundamentals (Git, Jenkins; ability to interpret pipeline results and logs).
Awareness of security and compliance basics (secrets, access controls, encryption, auditability; PII/data handling).
Strong soft skills: clear communication, teamwork, good documentation habits, and composure under pressure.
Relevant technology certifications (asset).
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
