About the role

  • Specialist in food safety for food transformation sector, performing audits and supporting certification programs. Managing administrative and technical aspects of client dossiers including SQF and HACCP certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Using their expertise in the food processing sector, the incumbent helps ensure compliance and the quality of food safety practices at client companies by conducting audits and supporting certification programs (SQF, HACCP and Costco).
  • Manages the administrative and technical aspects of all assigned files and collaborates in the auditor qualification process and the management of service contracts.
  • Conduct food safety audits at client sites;
  • Manage the administrative and technical aspects of client files in the context of certification programs such as SQF (Safe Quality Food) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point);
  • Participate in the operation and improvement of the certification program;
  • Collaborate in the auditor qualification process and conduct training activities for auditors;
  • Work with the team of professionals and the operations support team to manage clients’ service contracts;
  • Participate in promotional and marketing activities as required;
  • Participate in BNQ committees when your presence is required;
  • Be able to travel to various regions of the province of Quebec for approximately 50% of working time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering, Microbiology, Food Chemistry or an equivalent field;
  • Minimum of five years of operational experience with hygiene and food safety programs, notably HACCP or other appropriate risk management systems. Additional years of experience will be considered an asset;
  • Qualified as an SQF auditor or qualifiable after successfully completing the "SQF Code Requirements Audit" training, a recognized HACCP training and a recognized lead auditor training in management systems. Additionally, to be qualifiable, candidates must have completed a minimum of one hundred (100) audit hours in the food industry;
  • Knowledge of the CanadaGAP program (asset);
  • Knowledge of project management principles (asset);
  • Proficiency in French, both spoken and written;
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written;
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
