About the role

  • FPGA co-op designing and testing VHDL/Verilog systems for Kardium’s Globe Pulsed Field System. Supporting development of innovative medical devices for atrial fibrillation treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Design digital logic in VHDL/Verilog for synthesizable FPGA circuits
  • Design digital logic using block diagrams in Vivado
  • Verify digital logic designs using testbenches
  • Verify and troubleshoot FPGA designs through board-level testing
  • Develop designs with embedded soft-core processors including MicroBlaze and Zynq
  • Understand and use TCL scripts for synthesis with Xilinx/AMD tools
  • Analyze test data in MATLAB and document results
  • Perform system-level testing and debugging of prototypes and preproduction units
  • Gain hands-on experience developing and commercializing complex medical devices for atrial fibrillation treatment

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of programmable logic design flow (FPGAs)
  • Experience writing hardware description languages such as VHDL and Verilog
  • Experience with Xilinx tools such as ISE, XPS, and Vivado
  • Good understanding of basic electronics theory
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Positive, proactive attitude and ability to execute tasks with an appropriate level of independence
  • Enthusiasm for seeking innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
  • Demonstrated success working in a team setting
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Most recent transcripts required as part of the application
