About the role

  • Full-Stack Software Engineer building accessible web applications for Manulife, an international financial-services provider. Designing React interfaces, APIs, databases, and server-side systems across the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deliver, maintain, and improve business applications across the full software development lifecycle
  • Design end-user interfaces, databases, APIs, and server-side logic
  • Maintain front-end and back-end web application components
  • Apply disciplined coding practices, design patterns, automation, and semantic versioning
  • Use development frameworks and third-party libraries
  • Conduct tests and analysis to meet software standards and end-user requirements
  • Develop detailed system design specifications
  • Assist in developing automated test harnesses
  • Perform investigative spikes to mitigate technical uncertainty and risk
  • Fix errors, resolve bugs, and improve software efficiency
  • Participate in ideation and brainstorming sessions for digital solutions
  • Create product design prototypes using varied techniques
  • Complete deployment, maintenance, support, and business documentation
  • Apply CI/CD methods, API development, DevSecOps, and database design
  • Engage in peer reviews for continuous learning and improvement
  • Develop junior engineers and support staff growth

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Full Stack Software Engineer experience
  • Hands-on experience with React, Node.js, Express, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and writing front-end tests
  • Experience designing reusable, efficient, maintainable React components with Redux
  • Knowledge of React server-side rendering
  • Strong CSS background for scalable and mobile-responsive user interfaces
  • Experience building digital products with accessibility in mind and conducting accessibility testing
  • Understanding of agile and DevOps principles
  • Experience with testing-prioritized development and continuous integration
  • Experience developing front-end applications compliant with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1
  • Experience working and communicating with clients and collaborators
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) knowledge or exposure is a plus
  • Cloud-based development experience with Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) or similar platform
  • Exposure to PaaS and microservice architectures
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of SonarQube, Fortify, and WebInspect
  • Ability or interest in developing junior engineers and growing staff within the organization
