About the role

  • Lead Solution Architect shaping enterprise architecture, modernization, cloud, and resilience strategy for Manulife’s Canadian financial services business. Leading architecture teams and executive technology governance across multiple portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve architecture vision, roadmaps, and target-state capabilities
  • Align business strategy with technology investments
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies, modernization, cloud, AI, data, and platform strategies
  • Advise business and technology executives on architecture
  • Establish and govern architecture standards, patterns, and reference architectures
  • Lead architecture review boards and major design decisions
  • Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise principles and security requirements
  • Design for availability, resiliency, security, privacy, and other functional and non-functional qualities
  • Scope and plan upcoming initiatives and roadmap items
  • Produce or lead conceptual, solution, and component-level architectures and associated artifacts
  • Review and provide feedback on architectures produced within and outside the team
  • Lead large-scale transformation initiatives across multiple portfolios
  • Guide application modernization, cloud adoption, platform engineering, and resilience programs
  • Identify simplification, standardization, and cost-optimization opportunities
  • Influence investment prioritization and technology roadmaps
  • Partner with executives, engineering, product, risk, security, and operations teams
  • Build consensus across complex stakeholder groups
  • Present architectural recommendations and business cases to senior leadership
  • Lead a team of solution, business, data, and platform architects
  • Mentor architects and foster innovation, engineering excellence, and knowledge sharing
  • Champion architecture best practices across the organization

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive technology experience
  • 3+ years in enterprise or principal architecture leadership roles
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and modern engineering practices
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale modernization programs
  • Strong executive communication, influencing, and governance skills
  • Proven ability to drive alignment across large organizations
  • Financial services or highly regulated industry experience preferred
  • Experience with AI, digital platforms, data architecture, and technology resilience preferred
  • Architecture certifications such as TOGAF or cloud certifications preferred
