About the role
- Senior full-stack engineer building Java, React, Azure, and Kubernetes platforms for Manulife’s global investment operations. Designing mission-critical technology for wealth and asset management.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-scale applications across the full software development lifecycle
- Build user experiences using React and scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
- Develop and enhance cloud-native applications running on Azure and Kubernetes (AKS)
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to implement high-impact solutions
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and architecture decisions
- Create APIs, database designs, and server-side components for mission-critical investment applications
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
- Apply CI/CD, DevSecOps, automation, testing, and semantic versioning practices
- Mentor team members through code reviews, technical guidance, and best practices
- Support investment technology platforms used across Equities, Fixed Income, Commercial Real Estate, Credit Default Swaps, and Reinsurance
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of full-stack development experience
- 5+ years of hands-on Java development
- 5+ years of advanced SQL and database development experience
- 3+ years working with microservices and Kubernetes; AKS preferred
- Strong experience developing modern web applications with React.js
- Expertise with Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building solutions in Microsoft Azure
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, testing, and secure development practices
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, React.js, Kubernetes (AKS), Databricks, GitHub/GitHub Copilot, Azure Web Apps, MS SQL Server, and Azure SQL
- Experience in Capital Markets, Investment Management, Credit & Financial Risk, or Accounting domains is nice to have
- Knowledge of portfolio positions, security master data, market data, and investment workflows is nice to have
- Familiarity with BDMS or similar market data platforms is nice to have
- Experience with investment data platforms and analytics ecosystems is nice to have
