About the role

  • Senior Full Stack Engineer modernizing Manulife’s digital benefits platforms. Building secure React, Node.js, GraphQL, .NET, and Java solutions for Canadians managing benefits and health.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and evolve end-to-end architecture with Architecture, Product, and Platform teams
  • Influence technical strategy to modernize the technology stack and deliver incremental, high-value outcomes
  • Design, build, and operate scalable, secure, high-performing solutions across React, Node.js, GraphQL, .NET, and Java ecosystems
  • Drive best practices in testing, CI/CD, operational excellence, telemetry, and observability
  • Use New Relic and Moogsoft to improve reliability and system performance
  • Deliver high-quality software while balancing speed, innovation, and code quality
  • Collaborate across engineering, quality, and cross-functional teams through pairing, mentoring, and code reviews
  • Contribute to and leverage open-source and inner-source ecosystems
  • Champion responsible use of AI tools in development while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance
  • Continuously learn, improve, and deliver impactful solutions for customers and the engineering organization

Requirements

  • Full-stack expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, and GraphQL
  • Exposure to .NET and Java
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms
  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes, K9s, Terraform, and MongoDB Atlas
  • Experience designing scalable, secure product solutions and reusable engineering assets
  • Ability to drive engineering maturity, testing automation, CI/CD, and observability practices
  • Strong risk-aware mindset and ability to balance technical delivery with risk
  • Experience working in Scaled Agile environments preferred
  • Experience mentoring and coaching engineers
  • Commitment to continuous learning and skills development
  • Experience building responsible AI agents and integrating capabilities into development pipelines preferred
