About the role

  • Senior Manager strengthening business continuity and operational resilience at Manulife, a global financial services provider. Leading risk oversight, resilience programs, controls, reporting, and cross-functional stakeholder initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve Manulife’s Business Continuity Risk Standard, KRIs, and controls
  • Provide second-line oversight and challenge in evaluating business continuity risks
  • Design processes and tools supporting first-line management of Business Continuity Risk
  • Research industry trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Support development and maintenance of Business Continuity Management policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Develop execution strategy for the Business Continuity Management program through data analysis, best-practice application, problem-solving, and recommendations
  • Lead cross-functional stakeholder management, socialize issues, develop strategies, drive change, and implement solutions
  • Deliver through execution excellence and program management
  • Support Business Continuity Program workstreams, ad hoc projects, and risk programs
  • Support design, implementation, and maintenance of the Business Continuity management system
  • Provide second-line oversight and challenge over BIA/BCP activities and risk-posture reporting
  • Work with Segment Operational Risk Officers to ensure timely and accurate resilience assessments
  • Provide education and training to business, operations, and technology resources
  • Develop dashboards and reporting, identify operational risk and resilience exposures, and ensure timely escalation to senior management and governance/risk committees
  • Support reviews ensuring mitigating actions and remediations are identified and completed

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Business Continuity, operational resilience, or risk management in financial services
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
  • Proven track record developing and implementing resilience strategies
  • Expert knowledge of risk management principles, best practices, and tools
  • Strong understanding of financial services regulations and interfacing with internal partners
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with integrity and confidence to liaise with executives and senior management
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects
  • Ability to influence and deliver amidst ambiguity
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills; comfortable addressing large and small audiences
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to foster a high-performing culture
  • Experience designing, implementing, and validating operational controls
