About the role
- Editorial and media professionals auditing AI-generated work for Mercor, which partners with AI labs and enterprises to train frontier models. Reviewing realism, accuracy, grading, and practitioner usability.
Responsibilities
- Audit AI-generated work product in the applicant's editorial or media specialty
- Review the task description, AI agent's work, produced files, and AI grader's scoresheet
- Assess whether tasks are realistic and relevant to the profession
- Verify domain content, including standards, figures, regulations, terminology, and constraints
- Review eleven yes/no grading questions and identify disagreements with explanations
- Independently band the work and assess whether a practitioner could use or accept it
- Compare the independently assigned band with the reported score
- Write a short rationale for every judgment
- Complete approximately one item per hour without performing or redoing the underlying task
Requirements
- Apply to the role matching your background: Editors; News Analysts, Reporters and Journalists; or Film and Video Editors
- 4+ years editing other people's copy to a house style, with responsibility for what was published (Editors)
- 4+ years reporting and filing your own stories, with sourcing you had to stand behind (News Analysts, Reporters and Journalists)
- 4+ years cutting finished pieces on a professional timeline, delivered to a client or a broadcast specification (Film and Video Editors)
- Near-native business English
- Comfort using spreadsheets or PDFs to verify that numbers reconcile
- Professional field expertise and judgment
- Independent contractor engagement
- Must not require H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship/support
