Facility maintenance worker supporting Milton’s municipal recreation facilities. Maintaining pools, ice surfaces, building systems, and public-use spaces while delivering customer service.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs at an assigned multi-use facility
Perform regular maintenance and cleaning duties within the facility and some outdoor areas
Promote safe working practices, ensure legislative compliance, and address areas of risk
Flood ice surfaces, operate ice edger, and perform other ice maintenance tasks
Monitor and maintain pool filtration and chemistry in compliance with health and safety regulations
Open and close facilities as required
Operate facility systems safely and efficiently, including emergency decision-making
Provide customer service and assist with program support and public service delivery
Review and monitor facility bookings and rentals and proactively address customer concerns
Communicate with Facility Supervisors, Facility Operators, program staff, event staff, and customer service staff
Set up, clean up, and convert spaces according to facility programming requirements
Support Facility Attendants by directing shift duties and communicating policies and procedures
Complete risk assessment logs and perform minor equipment repairs and adjustments
Perform minor building-related repairs
Requirements
Completion of Grade 10 education
Minimum one (1) year of maintenance experience working in a municipal facility, arena, pool and/or recreation centre
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
Valid Ontario Driver’s License Class G2/G with a satisfactory driving record
Knowledge of facility operations, including ice resurfacer operations, pool backwash and fouling procedures, HVAC systems, BAS programs, and fire systems
Understanding of fire safety and risk management
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work productively independently and in a team environment
Ability to lift over 40 lbs, climb, and work above ground level on ladders and upright lifts
Ability to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends
