About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building AI-first software for Miovision’s real-time traffic signal optimization platform. Designing distributed systems and advancing agentic engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build deep context across traffic operations, customer needs, real-time systems, edge devices, distributed architectures, and legacy code
- Translate ambiguous requirements and complex system failures into problem definitions, technical designs, prototypes, and production software
- Use AI tools and agentic workflows for system exploration, design, implementation, testing, debugging, and production operations
- Break complex initiatives into structured work for engineers and AI agents
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable software across distributed systems and connected infrastructure
- Move across unfamiliar technology stacks, services, and programming languages as needed
- Review AI-generated code and designs, maintaining accountability for system quality, security, and performance
- Use prototypes and short feedback loops to reduce uncertainty
- Balance customer value, delivery speed, reliability, security, cost, and maintainability
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, Cloud, Customer Support, customers, and engineers
- Create documentation, test suites, guardrails, and observability tools for safe, repeatable AI-assisted development
- Share AI workflows, mentor engineers, and help define AI-first engineering practices across Miovision
Requirements
- Extensive professional software engineering experience delivering complex, scalable production systems; 8+ years preferred but not required with equivalent demonstrated capability
- Proven track record of building customer-facing products and making sound engineering decisions in fast-paced environments with incomplete or evolving information
- Demonstrated experience using frontier AI models, modern AI coding tools, or AI agents to accelerate development
- Ability to structure architecture and context so AI tools produce verifiable, maintainable code
- Strong foundation in system design, debugging, testing, reliability, security, maintainability, and production operations
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, data-intensive applications, and cloud/connected device platforms
- Ability to become effective quickly in unfamiliar technical stacks or business domains and reason across multiple modern languages, including Java, Kotlin, C#, TypeScript, and Python
- Familiarity with Git, containers, CI/CD pipelines, Linux-based systems, observability, and production troubleshooting
- Outstanding ability to articulate technical assumptions, trade-offs, and risks to technical and business stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, is an asset
