About the role
- Java Tech Lead designing scalable custody transaction platforms for Morgan Stanley’s financial services business. Leading architecture, engineering practices, and technical delivery across distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Java/Spring-based services for the custody platform
- Ensure scalability, resilience, and maintainability of services
- Own technical architecture and drive design decisions across reconciliation, exception management, and data-processing workflows
- Guide and mentor engineering specialists through code reviews, pairing, and technical coaching
- Translate custody operations business requirements into technical designs and actionable engineering tasks
- Partner with QA, DevOps, and production support teams to ensure reliable releases and rapid resolution of production issues
- Drive engineering best practices including test automation, CI/CD, and secure coding standards
- Evaluate and integrate technologies and frameworks to improve system performance and developer productivity
- Collaborate with product, risk, and compliance teams to align technical delivery with regulatory and business priorities
Requirements
- At least 8+ years of relevant experience building enterprise-level systems using Java/Spring
- Strong design and implementation fundamentals
- Strong experience implementing multithreaded applications, including multithreading/concurrency
- Hands-on experience with distributed technologies such as Kafka and distributed caching solutions
- Experience with Agile development techniques
- Deep understanding of systems engineering, build and release management, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
- Experience with application integration, software design patterns, frameworks, unit testing, automated testing, performance/memory analysis, and n-tier service-oriented architecture
- Strong fundamentals of domain-driven, event-driven, and message-driven architecture
- Strong fundamentals of REST services
- Understanding of Docker and container orchestration
- Experience with databases
- Knowledge of French and English is required
