About the role
- Vehicle Applications Engineer coordinating engineering requirements, bids, and bills of material for transit buses and coaches. Supporting production contracts and sales opportunities in Winnipeg.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary technical correspondent and Engineering representative for production contracts and sales opportunities
- Support bids process from initial proposals through production, including change requests and configuration audits
- Identify, define, and manage technical configuration requirements and communicate details to customers and internal stakeholders
- Ensure all technical specifications are addressed prior to bid submission
- Identify technical risks and opportunities; independently develop mitigation strategies and action opportunities
- Release initial Bills of Material (iBoMs) needed to build heavy duty transit buses and coaches for diverse customer specifications
- Provide Bill of Material status reports to Management
- Manage and present project documentation
- Assign tasks to Engineering designers for contract-specific design work
- Contribute to or lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor and train new employees
- Serve as checker for Engineering change orders (ECOs) prior to release
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience
- Knowledge of Engineering Design and Project Management
- Knowledge of Bills of Materials
- Knowledge of the manufacturing industry
- Experience with enterprise database software and engineering product lifecycle management systems considered an asset
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to understand and communicate engineering concepts
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Strong attention to detail
- Travel to the US (up to 25%) is required
