About the role

  • Youth and Family Therapist providing therapy to children, youth, and families with complex needs. Engaging in assessment, treatment planning, and effective intervention to support well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment utilizing appropriate tools as per the presenting issues that involve all significant stakeholders in the child/youth's lives
  • Provide specialized assessments where appropriate for specific issues such as sexual abuse, harmful sexual behavior/sexual offending, eating disorders and other complex diagnoses
  • Interpret many different factors and formulate treatment plans including goals and clinical strategies upon completion of all assessments and ensure all involved partners have a clear understanding of treatment recommendations and plan
  • Actively participate in the treatment planning process for clients including monitoring of each individual's progress toward the attainment of their goals
  • Provide individual, family and/or group therapy using evidence based/informed modalities/programs that will have a direct and positive impact on the safety and well-being of clients
  • Initiate and attend case review, multidisciplinary and other planning meetings with key stakeholders
  • Act as a case manager for assigned clients
  • Provide follow-up service to discharged clients as needed
  • Assist clients in making referrals to community resources and/or internal resources as needed to support the family and enhance the treatment work
  • Provide consultation to New Path staff or other agency staff regarding child and family functioning and related clinical interventions
  • Actively participate as a supportive member of the program at Community of Practices (CoP)

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work or a master's level program central to the practice of psychotherapy
  • Authorized to provide the controlled act of psychotherapy in compliance with the regulations and bylaws established by a regulatory college in Ontario
  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience and familiarity with various psychotherapy, evidence based/informed individual, group and family intervention programs (CBT, Narrative, TF-CBT, Brief solution focused, DBT)
  • Demonstrated experience with complex clinical treatment for sexual abuse, sexual offending, eating disorders and high conflict divorce
  • Knowledge of and experience in completing clinical interviews, assessments and formulations that are broad, informed and inclusive
