About the role
- SAP Transportation Management SME transforming logistics operations for DoD. Collaborating with government stakeholders to optimize transportation management capabilities across SAP.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the functional authority for SAP Transportation Management (TM), advising on system capabilities, standard functionality, and design trade-offs.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and solution designs aligned with SAP S/4HANA architecture.
- Guide configuration and design decisions across key TM components such as: Freight Order Management, Transportation Planning & Optimization, Carrier Selection & Tendering, Freight Settlement & Cost Distribution
- Ensure alignment with integration points across SAP modules (e.g., EWM, MM, SD, GTS).
- Partner with senior government and program leadership to shape transformation strategy and roadmap for transportation management capabilities.
- Provide expert recommendations on process standardization, system utilization, and organizational change impacts.
- Act as a trusted advisor, balancing mission requirements with technical feasibility and SAP best practices.
- Lead the translation of operational needs into structured requirements, user stories, and functional design artifacts.
- Evaluate gaps between legacy processes and SAP TM capabilities, recommending innovative and scalable solutions.
- Ensure all designs support auditability, traceability, and compliance within a regulated DoD environment.
- Define and support functional testing strategies, including system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Validate that configured solutions meet business requirements and operational scenarios.
- Support deployment planning, cutover activities, and transition to operations.
- Support organizational change efforts by helping stakeholders understand and adopt new transportation processes and system capabilities.
- Contribute to training materials, user guidance, and process documentation.
- Identify adoption risks and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure successful implementation.
- Monitor post-implementation performance and identify opportunities to optimize transportation processes and system usage.
- Recommend enhancements based on operational data, user feedback, and evolving mission needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business, or related field
- 8+ years of SAP functional experience, with deep specialization in SAP Transportation Management (TM)
- Proven experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations, preferably in large, complex environments
- Strong understanding of end-to-end transportation and logistics operations
- Ability to facilitate workshops, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus across diverse teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
