About the role
- Senior Principal Firmware Engineer developing and implementing embedded firmware for advanced coherent optical systems at Nokia. Collaborating with cross-functional teams while mentoring junior engineers in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Work within a dynamic Agile scrum team dedicated to innovation in optical systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement firmware for optical modules.
- Lead the development of embedded firmware for advanced coherent optical systems.
- Enhance system performance and drive integration with custom SoCs and embedded operating systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of development tools and workflows.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting skills in Python.
- Solid understanding of ARM architecture and embedded operating systems.
- Proven experience leading teams or projects in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with advanced pluggable transceivers (e.g., 400ZR, 800ZR, 1600ZR) is a plus.
- Familiarity with stateful protocol design and management network architecture is a plus.
- Knowledge of low-level hardware interfaces and peripheral drivers is a plus.
