About the role
- Software Development Engineer in Test defining quality gates and automating testing, deployment, and validation. Supporting Akamai's distributed cloud and edge platform for digital experiences.
Responsibilities
- Define the test strategy and performance quality gates
- Automate the SDLC pipeline from testing through deployment and validation
- Investigate and troubleshoot deployment-related issues
- Identify root causes and provide recommendations for solutions across environments
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Create and maintain test plans and test cases for microservices
- Collaborate in integration testing with other engineering groups
- Suggest improvements to testing environments
- Investigate requirements for safe deployment and rollback strategies
- Verify deployment requirements during the deployment process
- Write and maintain scripts to automate platform service deployments
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Python and Pytest knowledge
- Good understanding of modern testing methodologies
- Knowledge of Perl and golang
- Experience in debugging
- Understanding of x86 and ARM architecture
- Knowledge of Debian packaging, apt, and dependency management
- Good Linux fundamentals, especially around performance tuning
- Bash and scripting fundamentals
- Understanding of virtualization and containerization
- Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, Github Actions, SaltStack
