About the role
- Test Engineer designing automated manufacturing test stations and VB.NET/Python software. Supporting reliable testing for ORBCOMM’s IoT products across engineering and production.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy automated manufacturing test stations and fixtures
- Develop and maintain automated test software applications using VB.NET and Python
- Integrate hardware and software components to create reliable and efficient test solutions
- Support test systems throughout product development, validation, and manufacturing
- Interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Investigate production test failures and identify root causes
- Implement corrective actions to resolve product and manufacturing test issues
- Provide technical support for production and engineering test environments
- Create and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, and test specifications
- Identify opportunities to improve test system performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and manufacturing throughput
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 3–5 years of experience designing, developing, or supporting automated test systems and fixtures
- Programming experience with VB.NET and Python
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Strong electronic hardware troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Experience investigating test failures and performing root cause analysis
- Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and test specifications
- Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity
