About the role

  • Technical Animator creating character, weapon, vehicle, and gameplay animations in Maya and Unreal Engine 5. Supporting Offworld’s large-scale multiplayer shooter titles, including Squad and Starship Troopers: Extermination.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality full-body and first-person animations for gameplay characters
  • Ensure alignment with artistic direction and technical standards
  • Set up rigs for characters, weapons, vehicles, and props
  • Collaborate with Designers and Programmers to implement animations in-engine using Maya and proprietary engine tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
  • Use motion-capture data and hand-key animation to create believable characters
  • Create hero traversal, combat, boss, gameplay camera cinematography, mission, and open-world animations using advanced game-engine tools
  • Work with the Animation team to ensure cohesive execution of the established animation direction
  • Provide constructive feedback as necessary
  • Communicate with Designers, Programmers, Writers, Project Managers, Art, Audio, Character, and Rigging teams to resolve issues and achieve project goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of movement, pose and timing
  • Expert understanding of first person viewport animation
  • Solid skillset to create mech/props animation is a plus
  • Ability to create creature animation in various styles is a plus
  • Ability to work from reference materials such as video recording or already established animation
  • Solid knowledge of rigging
  • Solid knowledge of the animation process in Maya or equivalent software
  • Understanding of technical constraints in game development and ability to apply them when animating
  • Organized and clean workflow compatible with a collaborative environment
  • Effective communication skills across all levels and organizations
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment
  • End-to-end game development experience
  • 5+ years of animation creation experience in the game/CG industry
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D software, including Maya and Blender
  • Knowledge of motion capture processes
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5
  • Knowledge of common state machine flow in any game engine
  • Experience with 2 or more shipped titles desirable
  • Knowledge of MotionBuilder, C++, and Jira are a plus
