About the role
- Senior Business Analyst modernizing Alberta correctional Wi-Fi and video visitation services. Delivering requirements, process improvements, systems design, and stakeholder coordination for government initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead consultations and facilitate stakeholder meetings
- Create business requirements, functional specifications, and technical requirements
- Create new business and technical processes
- Review and re-engineer existing business processes
- Facilitate business process improvement sessions
- Assist in developing new IT services
- Schedule, organize, and lead project status meetings and other required meetings
- Bridge communication between vendors, client ministries, and corporate technical and business teams
- Escalate unresolved issues, risks, options, and recommendations
- Design business architecture, software system specifications, and database models
- Participate in iterative development using model-based processes
- Perform project management, business and technical analysis, and systems design for complex software solutions spanning n-tier development environments
- Produce project artifacts using XML, UML, and/or other web services technologies
- Prepare, update, and manage business requirements, software requirements, functional design, and project plans and schedules
- Prepare regular project status reports covering deliverables, risks, issues, timelines, and anticipated effort
- Ensure appropriate project communication throughout all project phases
- Identify required user training
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by the Project Manager for a Business Analyst or Lead Technical Analyst role
Requirements
- Senior Technical Business Analyst role supporting Alberta government ministry projects
- Information Technology (IT) professional experience
- Experience conducting business and technical analysis and systems design for complex software solutions
- Experience creating business requirements, functional specifications, technical requirements, software requirements, functional designs, and project plans
- Experience with business architecture design, software system specifications design, and database modelling
- Experience with iterative development using model-based processes
- Experience producing project artifacts with XML, UML, and/or other web services technologies
- Experience with business process reviews, re-engineering, and process improvement
- Experience facilitating stakeholder consultations, meetings, and business process improvement sessions
