About the role

  • UI Artist maintaining artistic direction and producing UI art for AAA game projects. Collaborating closely with creative teams to enhance user experience and visual quality for upcoming titles.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the artistic direction and quality
  • Produce high-quality user interface illustrations that are technically and artistically appropriate for the project’s universe and visual direction.
  • Design static and dynamic user interfaces that effectively communicate information and actions while providing a pleasant and engaging user experience.
  • Convert wireframes into finished assets according to specifications and keep workflows on schedule.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation describing the UI visual language, covering color theory, typography, iconography, visual hierarchy, and motion design—from initial concept through implementation and continuous iteration.
  • Fix bugs and document R&D case studies in the knowledge base.
  • Participate in reviews, and professionally adapt to and implement feedback from leads and peers.
  • Provide feedback and help improve visual quality.
  • Collaborate closely with UX, Game Design, Production, and other key stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and refine the visual aesthetic of new and existing UI art.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific style guides and high-fidelity asset libraries to ensure a consistent user experience, scalability, and improved productivity and collaboration through shared resources.
  • Take part in R&D initiatives to explore new techniques and implement pipeline and workflow improvements.
  • Occasionally support the onboarding process for new hires.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user interface design.
  • Experience working on and shipping at least one AAA title.
  • Solid foundation in traditional art skills and core design principles (form, texture, value and color, typography, and layout).
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX conventions and principles.
  • Proven ability to implement accessibility best practices, including considerations for color, scale, typography, and other visual design elements.
  • Deep expertise in Figma and other wireframing and prototyping tools.
  • Excellent command of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard software used for high-resolution modeling and sculpting.
  • Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces across a variety of game genres and platforms.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
  • Motivation and adaptability to new tools, styles, and workflows.
  • Strong cross-department collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • English fluency is required due to regular interactions with stakeholders and partners outside Quebec.
  • Prior experience with Maya.
  • Experience with Lua scripting and integration into UI systems.
