About the role

  • Director of Global HR leading Core HR operations for Percona’s globally distributed open-source database workforce. Overseeing employee lifecycle, benefits, performance, compliance, and people analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Stay current on emerging HR trends and evolving workforce expectations, identifying implications for workforce planning, leadership capability, team effectiveness, and organizational design
  • Address people and workplace challenges by understanding underlying causes and applying knowledge of diversity, neurodiversity, communication and conflict styles, interpersonal and team dynamics, and global cultural differences
  • Lead day-to-day Core HR operations and manage and develop a small global team
  • Serve as a senior HR business partner to directors and executive leaders
  • Guide managers through staff relations matters, workplace concerns, conflict, performance issues, and investigations
  • Navigate employment requirements across a global workforce of employees and long-term contractors
  • Refine Global HR programs and ways of working to support organizational growth and improve, simplify, automate, delegate, or discontinue processes
  • Oversee the staff lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding and partner with Talent Acquisition on transitions and onboarding
  • Lead compensation and bonus administration, policies, leaves, HR communications, and other staff programs
  • Facilitate immigration and relocation matters with staff, managers, external counsel, and service providers
  • Oversee Leadership and Citizenship camps in Percona’s Learning & Development program and partner on Product and Skills & Certification camps
  • Manage global benefits and well-being programs, broker and provider relationships, renewals, enrollment, staff education, and participant support
  • Facilitate Percona’s U.S. 401(k) investment committee and manage the plan-provider relationship
  • Lead the performance management program and integrate it with compensation and Learning & Development
  • Oversee HR systems, workflows, data integrity, reporting, and people analytics
  • Identify organizational needs and translate emerging issues, global events, and staff needs into strategies, communications, and coordinated action
  • Champion Percona’s culture and values and strengthen its reputation as an exceptional workplace

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of progressive HR experience, including at least five years in an HR leadership role and meaningful experience supporting a global workforce
  • Experience working in a globally distributed organization with a significant staff population in the United States
  • Broad HR generalist experience across staff relations, benefits, compensation, performance management, compliance, HR operations, and the staff lifecycle
  • Broad experience as a global employment practices generalist, with exposure to employment requirements across multiple countries and the ability to apply that foundation with sound judgment and an understanding of when local expertise is needed
  • Experience leading and developing HR staff
  • Experience overseeing or contributing to Learning & Development programs, particularly leadership and culture-focused initiatives
  • Strong HR systems, reporting, and process-improvement experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen carefully, synthesize complex issues, and provide clear recommendations
  • Sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience supporting staff in multiple countries
  • Experience working with employees and contractors
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CIPD, or equivalent HR certification
  • Experience supporting a fully remote workforce
  • Experience improving HR operations through technology, automation, and people analytics
  • Experience designing or facilitating leadership and organizational citizenship development programs
